Cheng Ng opened a small Thai grocery store, Mae Cheng, in 2007 to cater for the nascent Thai community in Sydney. Since then, Sydney’s Thaitown has grown to become the world second largest Thai population outside of Thailand. 

Mae Cheng has grown with it to become the place to go for your authentic Thai curry paste, Thai sauce or Thai seasoning once only found in the markets of Bangkok or Chiang Mai.

We offer a wide variety of Thai and South East Asian grocery items not usually found in the major supermarkets chains and supply local Thai restaurants, clubs and cafes with their strict food service requirements. 

Mae Cheng has built its reputation on the characteristics of its founder Cheng; trustworthiness, reliability and an insatiable willingness to do whatever it takes to meet your high expectation at a reasonable price.
